On the Kinabatangan, Built to Leave No Trace

Sukau Rainforest Lodge sits directly on the Kinabatangan River, Borneo's richest wildlife corridor, with sustainability built into everything from its solar hot water to its septic systems.

The lodge has earned recognition as a National Geographic Unique Lodge of the World and the Asian Ecotourism Network's Sustainable Building award - proof that a five-star river stay and a genuinely light footprint aren't mutually exclusive.

River Cruises Into the Corridor

Guided cruises run morning, afternoon and night along the Kinabatangan's oxbow lakes and tributaries, tracking Borneo's richest concentration of wildlife along a single stretch of river. One of the best places to observe the pygmy elephants crossing the river.

Resident orangutans are often seen from the lodge's own villas - a reminder of how close the wild sits to the rooms here.
