Track & Trail River Camp on the banks of the Luangwa River, South Luangwa National Park

Track & Trail River Camp

South Luangwa National Park · Zambia

A small, owner-run camp on the banks of the Luangwa River, five minutes from the park gate - built by two photographers around slow mornings, close tracking, and a river full of hippo just below the pool.

Kirsten Gottenkieny and Peter Geraerdts built this camp on the riverbank they fell in love with - nine chalets and a philosophy built entirely around the smaller, slower details of the bush.

On the Riverbank, Just Outside the Park

Track & Trail sits directly on the Luangwa River, opposite the national park and a five-minute drive from its main entrance - close enough for an early start, private enough that the riverbank feels entirely your own.

The camp was built by its owners around a single idea: safari at a slower pace, with photography and the smaller signs of the bush given as much attention as the big sightings.

Signature Experience

Slow Mornings, Close Tracking

Guided walking safaris here go beyond spotting the big five - tracking, birdlife and the smaller details of the bush get equal billing, led by guides who built the camp around exactly that pace.

Day and night drives run alongside the walks, covering South Luangwa's leopard-dense terrain and the highest concentration of hippo and crocodile found anywhere on the river.
