Wildlife seen around Kilima Camp

Because this property is unfenced and in a wildlife rich region, large and potentially dangerous animals pass through it. Please be cautious when going around the camp and ask a member of staff to accompany you if you have any concerns. After dark, it is mandatory to only go outside the tent accompanied by the resort’s designated guards.

Leopard, lion, cheetah, genet cat, civet cat, hyena, mountain buck, zebra, eland, impala, topi, dik-dik, klipspringer, baboon, warthog, hare, porcupine, bush baby, hippo, and more than 250 species of birds will entertain you during your stay in the Kilima Camp, Masai Mara.

Location

Around 6 hours by road or 45 minutes flight away (Kichwa Tembo is the nearest airstrip) from the capital city of Nairobi, this exclusive camp is accessible through a steep route through a forested valley at the top of the Oloololo Escarpment. Kilima means “mountain” or “little hill” in Swahili.

Rooms in Kilima Camp

There are 12 classic safari tents and 3 deluxe tents, each with a spacious interior, large bed, wooden deck with sunbeds, coffee table and chairs, and open to a breathtaking view of the Mara river and the Mara reserve. Flush toilets, running hot and cold water and shower is attached to each tent. The meals are provided in the central building.

Food and Dining

Kilima Camp’s food is homemade, nutritious, and simply delicious. The restaurant serves a selection of delectable meals made with fresh fruits and vegetables grown in their on-site eco-garden. The resort also offers vegetarian dishes and may meet particular dietary needs such as Kosher and Halal.

Usual days starts with Coffee, tea, biscuits, and handmade cakes in the morning. Then followed by the Breakfast buffet with a choice of selections. Lunch is a delicious buffet with several vegetarian options. From 3-5 p.m., guests can enjoy homemade cakes and refreshments. Finally, delicious vegetarian and non-vegetarian dinneris served.

After dinner, one can surely love a drink by the fireplace.

Activities and facilities

Game drive is ofcourse the primary activity, which depart early in the morning to witness wildlife and a diverse assortment of creatures in the Mara Triangle. But that is not all. You can schedule a walking safari with a local guide for an educational nature walk with an armed guard, which can include bush breakfasts and picnics, allowing you to eat out in the wild.

Unlike many other properties in Masai Mara, you can ride a horse into the Mara Triangle or enjoy a Night Game Drive into the plains.
Most amazingly, you are in the ideal location to experience balloon safari and observe the wild from above! Kilima Camp also provides excursions into the local community, including visits to villages and schools, as well as exposure to local traditions and genuine hospitality.
